Who We Are

Over the past four decades, Catalyst CT has been a source of hope for underserved and marginalized youth, families, and neighborhoods. Since 1985, we have positively impacted youth, young adults, and their families with youth and more.

As passionate advocates for persons of color (POC), our work reflects  the vibrant cultural tapestry in our communities. We wholeheartedly believe in the power of credible messengers who look like our communities and have similar lived experiences working to help marginalized people gain a voice.

Fostering Change, Building Communities

Our mission is simple yet profound: to foster change and create a lasting impact on the communities we serve. We address issues linked to school engagement, restorative justice, behavioral and mental health for children and teens and their families in Fairfield County and beyond.

Our changemakers work diligently to develop effective programs for participants from pre-k through adulthood. We collaborate with them to provide the support they need to face their challenges and not just survive—but thrive.

Offering Direct Services to Support Communities

Through our on-the-ground programs, including the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Community Schools Program, Park City Career Pathways, the Youth Diversion, StreetSafe Bridgeport, and Mediation, we tackle challenges in the community head-on. Based on community input and feedback, we adjust and innovate solutions to address immediate needs.

Capacity Building Empowering Individuals, Strengthening Communities

Empowering communities is central to our mission. Through initiatives like Prevention Corps, The Hub, and  Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI), we give individuals the tools and confidence they need so they can advocate for themselves, their families, and their communities. These programs cultivate a pipeline of future changemakers.

Data-Driven Advocacy to Inform Systems Change

Catalyst CT effectively tackles systemic issues by grounding our advocacy in data. For example, our State of the Child in Bridgeport report analyzes data about critical social conditions and provides evidence for policy change. We also serve as a voice for those who may be underrepresented or undervalued.

But our work doesn’t stop there. Catalyst CT collaborates with other community-based organizations. Together, we help boost changes to create a brighter future for the communities we serve today and for generations to come.

Together, we work diligently to be a part of the solution to reduce youth and gun violence, advocate for healthier communities, and create a positive impact that extends far beyond today for the underserved and marginalized youth, families, and neighborhoods in the greater Bridgeport area.
