Hello community members and preventionists alike! I’m Melissa Perez-Constantine, and my role is to serve as a community and strategic partner for the region; supporting and coordinating initiatives related to mental health and behavioral health in local and regional workgroups. I work to assess the behavioral health needs in our region and support Mental Health Promotion and Suicide Prevention. I manage the Local Prevention Council grants in all of our 14 towns, from Greenwich to Stratford, providing funding for prevention to happen in the local level.

If you are looking to participate in your local prevention council, or looking to enter into the prevention space, please don’t hesitate to call or email me!

Connecticut’s Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) – Prevention and Health Promotion Division collaborates with the state’s five Regional Behavioral Health Action Organizations, including the Hub, to fund the community-based Local Prevention Councils (LPCs). LPCs are coalitions consisting of stakeholders from 12 identified sectors. These coalitions aim to stimulate the development and implementation of local prevention activities for people of all ages. LPCs also address social emotional health, given the strong relationship between substance misuse and mental health disorders.

LPCs are coalitions consisting of stakeholders from 12 identified sectors. The Hub supports LPCs through regional coordination, technical assistance, and funding, including recent Strategic Opioid Response (SOR) grants.
