Prevention Corps is an AmeriCorps program through Catalyst CT that is educating and empowering communities across Connecticut to end the opioid crisis. Our members are placed with nonprofit organizations across the state for a term of service. These 900-hour service experiences build the capacity of these organizations and provide a career-building experience for members.
Since October 2017, we have expanded our cohort of members, building into a rich network of professionals who either choose to continue prevention work or use the skills they learned while serving in new careers. Our mission is guided by the core values of Empowerment, Partnership, and Awareness, which enable us to best serve our local community.
What We Do
Prevention Corps is more than volunteering—it is a 10-month commitment to serving your community and changing how we respond to the opioid epidemic. Our mission is to provide proactive, community-focused solutions in opioid education, awareness, and stigma reduction. The program’s core values of empowerment, partnership, and awareness are alive in every aspect of our work.
During their commitment, members serve 35 hours each week—members’ hours will fall entirely from Monday through Friday during traditional office hours on site.

Want to save lives?
By being trained in using Naloxone (Narcan) and carrying some with you everywhere, any citizen can become equipped to save lives. Through the Strategic Opioid Response Grant, our sister organization, the Hub, can provide community members with free Narcan kits and training on the opioid epidemic, prevention of opioid misuse, and how to reverse an overdose. To schedule a training, you can contact them below.
