Our Committees, Workgroups, and Coalitions

Gambling Awareness Team

The Region 1 Gambling Awareness Team comprises community stakeholders raising awareness about gambling and gaming.  The team focuses on building prevention and treatment capacity for our region. In addition to hosting gambling awareness training and webinars, the team reviews gambling trends, needs, gaps, and treatment options.

Meetings are held quarterly in-person at the Burroughs Community Center in Bridgeport. To be added to our mailing list, receive agendas and minutes, or indicate an interest in attending, please contact Dena Miccinello.

Local Prevention Councils

In CT, each municipality has a Local Prevention Council (LPC). Our 12 LPCs address issues impacting substance use prevention and mental health. Learn more about their work and find your LPC.

The Regional Cannabis Awareness Team

The Regional Cannabis Awareness Team (RCAT) of Southwestern CT is an open community work group to discuss and strategize initiatives to address cannabis use in our region. We share information and resources to create safer communities.

If you are interested, please email Kaitlin Comet at kcomet@catalystct.org for upcoming meetings and to join our mailing list.

Regional Suicide Advisory Board

This Board (RSAB) provides updates from our networks of care and reports on emerging trends concerning suicide. We evaluate new resources and funding opportunities, identify at-risk populations, address training gaps, and promote programs offered throughout Connecticut and nationally. The Board is made up of local prevention council representatives, clinicians, and people with lived experience, including survivors of suicide attempts and family members, prevention professionals, school social workers and psychologists, municipalities, state representatives, crisis intervention specialists, and first responders.

Meetings are held virtually quarterly. To be added to our mailing list, receive agendas and minutes, or indicate an interest in attending, please contact Caitlyn Koripsky.
